Couples Regatta and other stuff

Hello Sailors,

Here’s your SPSA May Events and other information:

1)  Couples Regatta, May 11th.  This is a pursuit start race with the least speedy sailing vessel starting at 2 PM.  A dinner worthy of your $20 entry fee will be served afterward in the sailing center. Start times and course will be posted no later than noon.  To register go to the SPSA web site, click the REGATTAS tab and then select Couples Regatta.    Or just click this link.  http://spsa.us/racing/regattas/   Need a boat?  3 Sailing Center Sonars are still available – contact the Sailing Center.

2)  With the exception of a seminar or currently unscheduled sunset cruise, the SPSA Sailing Season goes semi-dormant in the hot months.  Notice of the exceptions will hit your email box as will other announcements – like renew your membership.  Stay tuned.  All is not lost however to get your sailing fix.  See #3 below.

3)  The SPYC Twilight Series is turning out the area sailors.  Last night 16 boats enjoyed the beautiful weather and gentle breeze.  Afterwards a good crowd showed up for the “racers one free drink” benefit at the SPYC Tiki bar. This happens every Friday night through August.  Your St Petersburg Sailing Association has been placing sailors, experienced or not, on participating boats.  Demand has not yet filled all of the available crew spots.  I know there’s great reruns on TV every night.  Do you know how to use your video recorder?  Contact Dan Dawson to arrange your ride or find your crew.  You’ll be glad you did.  Dan Dawson  downwindan@gmail.com
