The St. Pete Sailing Association races for the thrill of it, for the fun of it, and for all the stories that come of it! The season runs from September through May. There is one series race per month, usually on a Saturday. Additionally, there are several regattas including the Good Old Boat Regatta, one of the premier events in Florida. See the Regattas page for the full list. Most races are followed by a social event and we’d love to have you there – see our Calendar for information.
The aim of the association is to provide a program of fun racing on Tampa Bay for sailboats of different types via handicaps. Eligible sailboats are those which are self-righting, have self-draining cockpits, and a minimum overall length of twenty feet. Boats are rated by the West Florida Performance Handicap Racing Fleet (WFPHRF) or a special SPSA handicap rating. Races are sailed under the current I.Y.R.U. rules and prescriptions of the U.S.S.A. with certain exceptions and amendments that are set forth in the sailing instructions. Race results are posted to the SPSA website.
