SPSA Late January 2024 update

Hello Sailors,
Winds were up last Sunday and it was a little cold but that didn't stop 14 boats from participating in the 3rd Annual Off The Wall Regatta. 4 boats with new to racing skippers crossed the start line for a raucous sail around the course. The post race gathering was exciting as trophies were awarded and tales of the day were exchanged. Thanks to everyone who participated and helped with planning. It was a memorable day!.
  • Our next Spring Series races take place this Saturday, February 3rd, start time 1100. Race Committee boat will be Fiddlesticks. Post Race Meet-up at Localz for race awards and the KOB for January will be announced! **The Sailing Center is hosting the ILCA Midwinters regatta this weekend and their lot is being used for trailer storage. There will be no parking in their lot that Saturday, only loading/unloading and hoist use, but cars must park elsewhere. Sorry for the inconvenience.
  • Wednesday, February 6th is our next SPSA Board of Directors meeting, 6:00PM at the Sailing Center. All SPSA members are welcomed. Please let us know if you plan to attend by emailing commodore@spsa.us
Other racing around the Bay in February:
It's another full month of fun sailing. Don't miss out.

Perfect conditions for our Chili Cookoff. COMMODORE'S CHALLENGE  SPSA has 73 members with boats, that includes members who race sonars and J70s in SPSA races. Here's my challenge: all 73 boats on the Bay for the Off the Wall Regatta – Sunday January 28th – Pursuit Start Race – First Boat Starts at 1100. Skipper's Meeting on Saturday 1/27, 1600 at the Sailing Center. This is the 3rd annual Off the Wall Regatta, conceived as a way to introduce new racers to the sport of sailboat racing. The race is open to all though – new racers and experienced alike. Come out – have fun – perpetuate the Noble Art of Sailing.
