Friday Night Sunset Sail 10/27

Dear SPSA members,

The St. Petersburg Sailing Association  would  like you to join us for a sunset sail.  There will be enough boats that there will be room for everyone.  We are especially hoping that the members who don’t currently own  a boat will jump on board with us to enjoy the special beauty that the Bay offers in the early evening.

Commodore’s Cup Sat 9/23 & Annual Meeting 9/29

Reminder – the 20th Annual SPSA Commodore’s Cup is this Saturday 9/23.   There will be a skippers meeting at 12:30, followed by a 2:00 pursuit Start, and an awards dinner at the sailing center after the race around 5:00.  If you haven’t already entered, you can do so on the website at:

The following Friday 9/29 we are having the Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet that was rescheduled due to Hurricane Irma.  Please RSVP to the secretary@spsa.us if you have not done so, or if you previously RSVP’d but are unable to attend the rescheduled date.  The Bradenton Boat of the Year kickoff also rescheduled to this weekend (after we did) so we understand there may be conflicts and we need to turn in a revised head count for dinner.

SPSA Awards Banquet rescheduled for Fri Sept 29th

We were just informed by the Yacht Club that they will be closed starting tomorrow due to an evacuation order for Hurricane Irma.  The SPSA and Twilight Awards Banquet has been rescheduled for Friday Sept 29th at the St Petersburg Yacht Club.

Hurricane Irma / SPSA Race 1 canceled

Out of an abundance of caution, we are canceling Saturday’s race as in addition to tropical wind potential, the sailing center is closed, making preparations for hurricane Irma and members are otherwise occupied with prepping boats and their homes.

The board will review the master calendar and determine when we can work in a make up race.

20th Annual SPSA Commodore’s Cup

In 1997, the SPSA Vice Commodore’s cup was renamed to the Commodore’s cup and became an inter-club challenge.   It was later opened up to all to participate.  On September 23th, 2017 we will be hosting the 20th Annual SPSA Commodore’s Cup.  This will be a pursuit style race this year. The Awards Dinner and Party will be held at the St Petersburg Sailing Center about 5:00, immediately following the race. Dinner for the skipper and 1 crew, is included with the entry fee. Additional dinner tickets ($12.00 each) can be purchased online or at the door.
