Twilight Series starts this Friday

Hello Sailor!
The first SPYC Friday evening Twilight Race is this Friday the 15TH of March. This series is conducted by the yacht club and is open to the public – you do not need to be a St Petersburg Yacht Club member to participate.
If you would like to like to crew on a boat for these races, please let me know and I will try to match you up with a skipper. Also, if you are a skipper looking for crew, contact me and I can help. We have a list of members with a wide variety of experience. Send me an email. downwindan@gmail.com
Skippers, go to www.spyc.org to register so your boat will be scored – they need your boat information to find it’s handicap.

Message from the Commodore concerning January Series Race results

Dear SPSA Racers,
I have some unfortunate information to tell you all regarding our race last month. We have been unable to locate the paper work that contains the finishing times form the race. There was apparently some misunderstanding of where it would be placed and it has not been found despite a very through search. While your board was not happy about this we do not have many options for correction. We have decided that the January race will not be counted and will not be scored. I apologize for this occurring and as the commodore take the blame for this. We have decided that to prevent this from occurring again we are going to change the record keeping process. Beginning this Saturday Race Committee is instructed to take a picture of the results and email it to the race chairman. Race Committee will also give the original paper results to the race chairman or, if he/she is not available, then to a board member. We are striving to keep mistakes to a minimum but they will occur. If you have any thoughts or comments on this please direct them to me.
Thank for your understanding.
Remember our next race is this Saturday.

February Series Race and King of Bay sightings

- February 23rd Saturday 11 AM Series Race No 6. The February winds have been great for sailing! Get your crew lined up. Our post race party will be at Courigans. Here’s an inside tip – we cleaned the SPSA locker out, threw out a whole bunch of junk, however we found some good stuff we will be giving away.
- Reminder: The Chili Cook-Off originally scheduled for January will be held after Series Race 8 on April 20th. Put a great Chili together. We can’t let “what’s her name” win again.
- King of the Bay Activity: Four boats were seen this past Saturday running the King of the Bay course and dodging the numerous Valentine’s Regatta participants – 285 Optis and Lasers, what a great thing to see. Out running the 3 mark course were Charles Archer’s Surge (Compass 47), Richard Carlson’s Because (32’ Sharpie Catboat), Dan Dawson’s Last Tango (Hunter 33.5) and Joe Toth’s Abeona (Morgan 36-5). The wind was great that day! The February King of the Bay Flag will be awarded in March. Give it a shot.
