Cruises

The Dolphins Cruising group is open to SPSA members who are boat-owners (or friends of boat-owners) and are interested in non-racing events like weekend anchor-outs, overnight sailing trips, learning about or participating in cruising, and general nautical fun.   We represent the sailors that prefer to stay on a starboard tack for hours rather than minutes and strategize about how to keep our beer cold and the anchor properly set rather than rounding a mark…

New in 2025:  The Dolphins Cruising group will be using the WhatsApp Group “SPSA-Dolphins Cruisers” to communicate our activities.  WhatsApp is free and can be accessed via the web at whatsapp.com, or the app can be downloaded from Google Play (Android) or the iPhone App Store. Simply click the link to join the group (‎Join group) if you are interested in staying informed.

    • Women Who Sail Tampa Bay (wwstampabay.com) have an upcoming meeting on Thursday, September 18, 2025. Time: 6:00 pm at Nueva Cantina on 4th St S in St Petersburg. They will talk about upcoming trips including a trip to the Dry Tortugas in December. If you would like to get on a boat as crew, this is a must attend event. This is a women-only event.
    • Women Who Sail Tampa Bay will also be hosting “October Anchor Out”, a co-ed event October 17-19 in Terra Ciea Bay. Find more information here: wwstampabay.com/octoberanchorout
    • BCYC, in the spirit of cruising and camaraderie, has invited SPSA Cruisers to join their cruise to the Dry Tortugas in November.  They are having meetings on Sept. 20th  and Oct. 18th to discuss float plans.  Location: BCYC at 4600 Tifton Dr in Gulfport. Time: 5:00 pm. 

Past Events:

  • Emerson Point Cruise (November 22 – 24, 2024): Join SPSA, DIYC, TSS, and other groups across Tampa Bay as we all meet up at Emerson Point Preserve. Bring something to grill for dinner and a dish to share for our dinner party on Saturday night.
  • New Year’s Eve Anchor-Out (December 31, 2024 – January 1, 2025): We have an exciting celebration planned for this New Year’s! Anchor near downtown St Petersburg, then join the club for our annual Holiday Party on January 1st.
  • Come Sail Away!!! (January 10-12, 2025): Cruise to see the band Styx play the iconic song “Come Sail Away” at Clearwater Sound, along with another stop in the area for the traditional January Gasparilla Pirate Party.
  • Valentine’s Day Cruise (February 13, 2025): Cruise to Terra Ceia Bay with us for a lovely Valentine’s Day celebration. 
  • Cortez Fishing Festival Cruise (February 15-16, 2025): There’s no better way to experience the Cortez Fishing Festival than by joining our fleet as we sail to Cortez.
  • St Patrick’s Day Cruise to TSS (March 14-15, 2025): Sail to the Tampa Sailing Squadron, our hosts for our annual St Patrick’s Day cruise and limerick competition!
